This work is the culmination of a photography residency in Pueblo Liebig, Argentina.
Liebig is a town in Entre Ríos, which is located on the bank of the Uruguay River. The town was created by the English under the concept of Company Town. This type of population is created with the aim of ensuring the workforce for an industrial activity, in this case a meat refrigerator.
Salted paper copies were used to make the portraits (a technique invented by Talbot at the beginning of photography) since one of its components is gelatin, a product derived from refrigerators and used in analog photographic industry.
The portraits dialogue between the veteran workers of the Colón Fridge and the young people of the local School that today are the present of the town.
A 5x7 plate chamber was used. This way of shooting generates a performativity in the photographic act since making the portrait takes a while and draws attention due to the type of camera, the result can be seen in the poses obtained.
Another characteristic was to use a certain number of films and copies where there was no repetition. In this way the work methodology contrasted with the current way of working for most photographers where digital cameras allow us almost an unlimited number of images. Here the error is part of the process.
